Eva Martinez Powless, Ph.D.

Dr. Eva Martinez Powless is a transformational leader, entrepreneur, and advocate with more than 23 years of experience spanning higher education, nonprofit administration, consulting, and business leadership. Throughout her career, she has held senior executive roles including Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, championing strategic innovation and equity-centered change. Currently a business owner with American Family Insurance, Dr. Eva remains committed to service and empowerment. She believes leadership is rooted in relationships, integrity, and the pursuit of opportunity for all. Her distinguished background includes nearly 15 years at Marquette University and serving as Vice President at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she authored their first comprehensive Five-Year DEI Plan. Through her consulting and entrepreneurial ventures, she provides values-based leadership grounded in ethics and collaboration. As a first-generation college graduate from an immigrant background, her journey is shaped by resilience and faith. She has dedicated her life’s work to advocating for marginalized communities, ensuring every person is seen, valued, and respected. Dr. Eva holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree from Marquette University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Alverno College.
